Crystal Blue employee Karen Morris' original design Queen of Swords is worked in 20 colors of Delicas, size 15 seed beads, and Swarovski crystal; the vessel measures 7 x 4 x 4 inches.  The piece is currently traveling through the end of 2005 with the prestigious show Bead International 2004, sponsored by the Dairy Barn Arts Center, located in Athens, Ohio. Artist's Statement: The Queen of Swords is my Personality Card in the tarot deck.  This small vessel combines my new love of hot glass work with my enduring passion for weaving structures from tiny beads. The swords are hand-formed stringers of colored glass bound in a lattice formation.  They create windows that allow light to pass through. For me, the shape also conjures up the bodice of a rich, coppery gown fit for a Queen, with lacing at the center front and back and an elaborate ruffle around the strapless neckline, encrusted with jewels.
